App Stop, developed by the Finnish company Futurice, is an application that helps you close all the active applications and hidden tasks on your phone in a few clicks. The main screen of the App Stop lists all the active applications and hidden tasks running on your phone. The panel at the bottom of the screen has three simple functions – ‘UnMark All’, ‘Close’ and ‘Mark All’ (shown below as an empty dotted box, an cross (X) mark and tick marked box respectively). Using the ‘Mark All’ and ‘Close’ options you can close all active applications in two simple steps! Please do ensure that you have saved your work before you exercise the ‘Close All’ applications option.
But, if you don’t want to close all the applications, you can select/deselect specific applications by clicking on them in the application list. After you have made your selections, you can either hit the Close (X) button or go to ‘Options’ > ‘ Stop Selected Apps’ to close these applications. This functionality is useful in situations where more than one app is not responding to your input.
