U.K.-based Fly Mobile has announced that it will launch four Android smartphones in India in October 2011.

The new Fly Mobile smartphones would run Android 2.2 aka Froyo OS and feature a camera between 3 megapixels to 5 megapixels. The company is also working on an India-centric app store for its new phones, which it would launch in conjunction with the phones.
Prem Kumar, chief executive officer, Fly Mobile, told The Mobile Indian, “Fly Mobile is strengthening its app ecosystem and is in the process of launching its app store, which will be India centric. Consumers will be able to experience our store by the third quarter this year.”
Fly Mobile will compete with homegrown companies like Micromax and Olive Telecom when it launches cheap Android phones in India. At a price tag of Rs. 6,500, Micromax Andro A60 is the least expensive Android phone in India.
The light-weight Andro A60 phone with unusual looks packs in a host of features like Android 2.1 operating system, 2.8-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G, GPS, accelerometer and gravity sensor. Suggested read: Should Micromax A60 be your first Android?
Fly Mobile usually comes out with cheap albeit feature-rich phones. Recently, the company launched an affordable dual SIM mobile called Fly Icon B450, which has a full QWERTY keyboard and a price tag of Rs. 3,600 in India. Also see: Cheap and affordable QWERTY phones in India
Fly Icon B450 has a 2.8-inch 262k color display. The phone features two cameras – a 3-megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera on the front. Fly Icon B450 uses Bluetooth with A2DP and Edge for connectivity. It also has a FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack, and its memory can be expanded up to 8GB.
The Icon B450 sports Fly Buzz! which has Snaptu and Nimbuzz applications for social networking. The phone also has Opera Mini Web browser, an e-book reader, audio player with equalizer, voice and video chat, privacy protection, and a built-in mobile tracker app.
